Oh New York City. I love you, okay?
Life hack: if you’re flying into Lagaurdia airport sit on the left side of the plane– I am warning you though, you will have a mild heart attack because the view when landing in the city is beyond anything you’ve probably ever seen. I flew into NYC last Wednesday after shooting the fall lookbook for Mendocino, one of my favourite Canadian stores. I’ve lived this moment and had time to reflect: but it still feels like a dream. One day I’m on set with the most friendly and talented group of people, and then within 12 hours I’m on a little plane to my favourite city in the world for Project Runway. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time and thinking “what did I do to deserve this?” I mean I know what I did. I work hard every day and never actually stop pursuing my goals despite failures. You’re bound to succeed if you never give up. But when your goals actually start becoming your reality it’s kind of hard not to walk around like a creepily-smiling weirdo.
After being backstage Project Runway, I checked into the Mondrian Hotel in Soho, which has views I dare you to rival. I ran out for lunch and then met with Scott, who shot these amazing photos for me on the cobblestone streets of Soho.
I’ll never get over how the city makes me feel. Your presence and awareness as at it’s peak. NYFW come faster, damn.
